November 19, 2009
5:15 to 6:00 OR 6:15 to

The Internet can be a
dangerous
place, especially for
children.
On November 19th,
Detective Malinda Wilson
of the
Seattle Police
Department
and the
Internet Crimes Against Children
task force will be joining us to share ways to recognize the
dangers
and help protect our children on line. Join us and
empower yourself
with
more
knowledge
to help keep our kids
safe!
We need your raw
fabric!
Denim, Corduroy, Fleece, Cotton.
Even non-hooded sweatshirts are helpful!
Natalie Harr, the Occupational Therapist that serves
Alpac,Lakeland Hills Pioneer, and Auburn High, is looking for
donations of heavy fabric. Cuts in her budget have prevented the
purchase of important tools that she can use with kids all over the
district. So she will make her own!
Natalie is in the middle of project right now to create materials
to help children with sensory needs, specifically kids on the
autism spectrum and those with sensory processing disorder. She is
making weighted lap blankets, weighted vests and weighted sweat
shirts. When kids wear these weighted materials, it calms their
nervous system and they are able to better focus their body and
minds at school.
If you have an extra yard or two of these fabrics, we would be so
grateful if you could donate them to Natalie Harr. Simply send it
in with your child in a bag with her name on it. If you have any
questions, or would offer sewing assistance, please contact Natalie
at nharr@auburn.wednet.edu<mailto:nharr@auburn.wednet.edu>
This is a great chance to help kids throughout our larger district
community. Thank you!
