Dear
Parents/Guardians:
Your kids are awesome! Here are some little
tidbits of info for you from our first full week of
school:
*Comfort
Kits: Please send one
for your child by the end of next week. If there is an emergency,
we want to make sure that our students are at least, as
comfortable as possible.
*Reading Focus:
short and long vowel
sounds
*Math
focus: number sense,
fact families
*No school on
Friday 9/25
(In-service Day)
*Please send waterless antibacterial
hand cleaner and tissue when you can… Other items that are
very useful include zip-lock bags. Snack, sandwich and gallon are
the sizes we use most. Do yourself a favor – go
generic !
*As often as possible, practice your
address and phone number with your child! These are two of the most
important pieces of information for a youngster to know! Next
month, I will be spot checking to see who can say/write their
address without looking in their work folder!
*‘Sharing’ schedule will
begin on 9/21/09: Mon.-Red Group, Tues.-Yellow Group, Wed.-Green
Group, Thurs.-Blue Group, Fri.-Purple Group
*Music and P.E. are on Wednesday and Friday from
2:55-3:35. (Please make sure your child wears suitable clothing,
(sneakers), for P.E.).
*I am still missing some of the ‘volunteer
in our classroom’ forms and the ‘classroom library
check-out’ forms that I sent home either at Back-To-School
night or in the big envelope of info from the office. Your student
earns points for getting this paperwork back to me!
*Congratulations to our first Star of the Week:
Karlie White! She displays our September skills of the month
beautifully! (Show respect to others and be friendly). When
your child is Star of the Week, s/he will bring home a special
poster to complete and return the following Monday.
*At the end of each month, (except for December
and June because they are so short), I will choose a ‘Student
of the Month’. September’s student will be someone who
is a model of good classroom behavior as well as one who works
quietly, is a good listener, and a good group partner. I wonder who
it will be…Watch for our next newsletter to find
out!
*I
have always had an ‘open door’ policy in my classroom.
Parents or guardians are welcome to come and observe or help
anytime, as long as they check in at the office first. If there are
certain study areas you are interested in, let me know in advance
and I will let you know what time of the school day to
come.
*Just so you know, I LOVE to
celebrate birthdays! We make a pretty big deal out of it. Students
get a special birthday letter from me as well as written birthday
wishes from all the other students in class. Everyone also gets a
little gift bag from me. If for religious/other reasons, you prefer
for us not to celebrate your child’s birthday, please let me
know in advance. If you would like to bring some kind of treat,
also let me know ahead of time so that we can arrange it for the
best time of day without interfering with our learning time
(store-bought only….state health code).
*Thanks so much to all of you who
were able to come to Back-To-School night. Any time that you attend
school functions, you are reinforcing to your child, the importance
of school.
*I am available to answer questions
and listen to comments before school (8:40) and after school (until
4:10). You can also reach me through our school email:
cawilcox@auburn.wednet.edu.
Take care! Mrs. Cheri Wilcox ![]() |
