Dear Chinook students, families, and community
members:
I want to start by
thanking each of you for helping to make this another great start
to the school year. It was exciting to see so many of you at
our Open House barbecue and so many of you taking the tour of
Chinook.
This
year we will be continuing our focus on increasing the academic
achievement of our students while maintaining their self-esteem and
developing their social skills. Towards those efforts I want to
share several of our focus issues for this school
year.
This year we are excited
to continue offering a school wide Title-I Reading and Math
Program. We are thrilled to have the
opportunity to offer our students additional instruction in
these essential areas.
In the area of social skills, we
are beginning a school-wide initiative to emphasize expectations in
a positive manner with our Four Bs (Be Respectful, Be Responsible,
Be Safe and Be Kind). We will also continue to address
bullying and harassment and provide our students with a forum for
solving issues in a positive and productive manner. This program is
called “OLWEUS”.
This year we are renewing our
efforts to increase the attendance of our students. Being at
school everyday is one of the most critical elements to our
students’ success. When students are tardy or absent
they miss out on valuable instruction and learning. We want to work
with you to help ensure that our students are here every day.
Please remember to call in to the school to report
absences.
Thank
you for your work in helping this year to begin with such a
successful start. We look forward to partnering with you in
the coming months as we work together for our
children.
Sincerely,
Lenny
Holloman
