I would like to take this
opportunity to welcome you and your student into our second grade
classroom! I truly want this year to be a great one for your
family.
I grew up in Renton, Washington and have always been a
Washingtonian. I did my
undergraduate work at Western Washington University in Bellingham,
where I majored in Child Development and Education, as well as
minored in Japanese. In my free time I love spending time with
family and friends, photography, cooking, traveling, running,
hiking, camping, and spoiling my two cats and new puppy.
I am currently in my fourth year of
teaching. This will be my third year teaching 2nd grade here at
Evergreen Heights. Prior to teaching here, I taught third grade at
Spanaway Elementary. I love both second grade and this district and
have great hopes for the year. I have found that being a part of
the Evergreen Heights Elementary community is a wonderful
gift!
Our classroom will be a child-centered one for
your student, meaning that each child will play a large role in how
our classroom community is run. I, along with many other Evergreen
Heights Elementary staff, will strive to help each student meet
his/her individual goals. Our class will also grow as a community
of learners together.
Second grade is another year for a tremendous
amount of growth. I hope you will help in celebrating all of your
child’s successes, both large and small. Please help me in
reminding your child that everyone learns at his/her own rate. In
our classroom we will use mistakes as a learning opportunity and
really celebrate one another’s progress.
I am tremendously
excited for this year! I feel completely honored to share your
child with you for part of the day and very much look forward to
learning about him/her and your family. Please feel free to contact
me anytime!! You may stop in the classroom, give me a call
(253-931-4974) or send me an email at abirch@auburn.wednet.edu with ANY concerns!
Here's to a great year!
