What is the Title/LAP Reading
Program?
Title/LAP is a program
which provides support for students who are having difficulty with
grade level work in the areas of reading and/or math.
How are children selected for
the program?
Students in grades
kindergarten through five are given reading and/or math
assessments. The results are evaluated and,
when combined with input from the classroom teacher, are used to
determine who will qualify for assistance in reading and/or
math.
Some
of the perks of your child’s participation are outlined
below:

questions about reading and your child’s

Homework
Expectations:
Your child will have
numerous pieces of Title/LAP homework with a purple parent sign-off
sheet attached. These are review activities that truly should only
take a minute or two to complete. Be aware that if the homework
sign-off comes back home to you, it means I never received your
student’s completed work. Once I have received a returned
sign-off, you will not see it again. Encourage your students to
regularly turn in the sign-offs so that I know they are practicing
what has been taught in class.
Missed Time in the
Regular Classroom:
Please let me know if
your child feels he or she is missing important regular classroom
work while in Title/LAP. I work with the teachers to assure
that essential instruction in the regular classroom is not missed.
Opportunities to
Observe:
You are welcome to
observe the Title/LAP classroom during your child’s session.
In the winter months you will be offered a scheduled
opportunity to do so. Feel free to observe sooner if you
wish.
