To increase student achievement for all students, the Auburn School District Board of Directors has determined that the entire district will implement the research proven strategies used by Professional Learning Communities. I’ve had the opportunity to attend several PLC training sessions and have now read multiple books on the topic. The staff and I set the stage for this process last year, this year we are jumping in! In my opinion, this is the most groundbreaking and encouraging advance in public education to come along in years, maybe ever. As I’ve told the staff, don’t get hung up on the title – “PLC.” All that matters is the implementation of the best-practice PLC strategies, just calling ourselves a Professional Learning Community won’t help move all of our students to standard and beyond. I would love to discuss this with you to share what I’ve learned and how it will impact learning at Lea Hill.
