Welcome to the Mt. Baker Orchestra
Website! I love teaching orchestra, and I thoroughly
enjoy teaching your wonderful students! If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me! I am available
most days between 10:45-12:45 and after 2:15. The school

We have several concerts throughout the
year. Please look at the events tab for a
complete list of all performances. All of the school concerts
are REQUIRED PERFORMANCES. It is extremely important that
every student participates in all of the concerts. Sickness
or family emergencies will be excused. If you have conflicts
on concert dates, please contact me early so that we can work out a
solution!
Practice sheets are due every week by all
6th and 7th graders. They are required to
practice 2 hours per week. It is best
to plan a daily practice time in a place that is quiet.
Uninterrupted practice time is very important. Good practice
time is much better than just simply watching the clock until 30
minutes is up. Students should practice the parts of the
music that they are struggling with. Taking a small chunk of
the music and playing it VERY SLOWLY will make that section easier
over time.
8th graders are still required to practice 2 hours per
week to be ready for our many performances!
Your student has chosen to enhance his/her life with music,
and this is an excellent way to improve your student's
future! Learning to play a musical instrument increases
student learning, improves test scores, teaches self-discipline,
and keeps students on the right path for success! Please
encourage your students to make music a life-long
activity!
