PRACTICE, PRACTICE PRACTICE...
Did you know that a
research group study found that professional athletes, musicians,
artists, and dancers spend about 50,000 hours of practicing
their craft to make it in the "Big Leagues." There is no
shortcut when it comes to learning to put the mind and body
together to create the perfect performance. The timing of small
muscles must be made automatic by thousands of repetitions on the
same muscle group, and then sequenced together to form the next set
of tasks. Age 9-13 is the perfect window to gain these
motor skills, as our brains absorb more readily at this time in a
persons life than any other time. Just ask any computer game
expert. Middle school kids learn faster than any other age
group. That's why practicing a musical instrument at the middle
school level is the BEST investment in your future as a musician.
You'll be well on your way to those 50,000 hours if you start NOW
in middle school.
