Dear Third Grade Families,
Welcome to third grade and a new school year at
Terminal Park. This is a terrific place to go to
school. You can count of this staff to work for the best
interest of your child. We all work together for one common
goal and that is to give your child the opportunity to be the best
he/she can be both socially and
academically.
My name is Jeanette Brunelle and I will be your
child’s third grade classroom teacher. Because I will
spend a great deal of time with your child, I would like to tell
you a few things about myself.
I
grew up just down the freeway in Renton. I thought Mount
Rainier was beautiful in Renton, but it is even prettier here in
Auburn. Two of my children, Danielle and Bryce, go to Auburn
High School. Darcy works at Starbucks. Oh yes, I am a grandma
to 1 ½ year old Riley!
I
like to ride my bike. I ride on the Interurban Trail. My
kids make fun of my bike because it is old and pink. Her name
is Pinky. I also like to read mysteries and watch movies. I
like to do some hiking too. Most important is I love
being a teacher and I am excited about this year!!
As a parent you are the most important person in
your child’s life, and we need to work together for your
child’s benefit. I need your support for the homework
assignments, academic goals and classroom discipline I have set for
the students. I will keep you informed about your
child’s progress. With school and home working together,
I know your child can have a successful
year.
This year Open House will be on Tuesday,
September 29th from 5:30 to 7:00. I hope to meet you
there. The students love to show off their new classroom to their
families.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jeanette Brunelle

P.E.: Our class PE is on Tuesdays and
Thursdays. Send your child to school wearing appropriate
clothing please. Gym shoes, pants, no loose clothing or too
tight clothing. Proper clothing will help a sure your child
has a good experience in gym class. Mr. Greer will be here to
teach
PE.
Student
Behavior: Terminal Park has adopted a philosophy of student guidance
called “ Love and Logic”. The staff has learned
effective strategies through a series of videotapes and the book
teaching with Love and Logic, by Jim Fay and David Funk. Love
and Logic is an approach to working with students
that:
·
Puts the teacher in
control
·
Teaches kids to think for
themselves
·
Raises the level of student
responsibility
·
Prepares kids to function
effectively in a society filled with temptations, decisions, and
consequences.
Basically our classroom has three
guidelines:
1.
Treat others as you would like to
be treated
2.
Work quietly so you do not disturb
others
3.
Do not do anything that would
cause a problem for yourself or others.
If a child is not following these guidelines they
may be asked to remove themselves from the situation, by moving to
a new place in the classroom or in the hall, until they can
continue in a better way.
