What a
busy start to the school year! We're almost at the end of the first
trimester and I'm just now making the first update to the webpage.
Well, we've been to both JA Biztown and to the Woodland Park Zoo.
Images will be added to the Image Gallery in the next few days.
We've also been working really hard in class on our personal
narrative writing, reviewing computation, and on responding to our
reading and thinking through weekly letters. I continue to be
impressed each day at the progress students are
making!

I've
just started updating the classroom website for the 2009-2010
school year. As most of you know by now, I'll be teaching 5th grade
this year. Most students from the 4th grade class next year will be
in my 5th grade class this year. I'm really excited to have the
opportunity to work with the same group of students and families
for a second
year!

New
pictures have been added to the image gallery from our trip to the
State Capitol building in Olympia. Also, I just found out last week
that I will be moving to 5th grade next year. My intention is to
keep all of my students from this year as we move into 5th grade.
This process is called looping. Research shows that looping
provides many benefits to both students and the teacher. I am very
excited to spend another year with this amazing group of students
and
families.

New
pictures have been added to the image gallery. Family Math
Game Night pictures have been added to the gallery, and more
classroom photos can be found in that image gallery. A new
discussion board post has also been
added.

I hope
you are all enjoying (or surviving) the snow! I can't get the
car off our street - even walking the sidewalks in Seattle is
dangerous right now. I hope I'll be able to drive again
sometime next week, but for now we'll have to cancel our viewing of
The Tale of
Despereaux that was planned for Sunday the 21st. We
will definitely reschedule for after Winter Break - probably the
first weekend after break.

Explore
the website for another round of updates. Classroom photos
have been added to the Image Gallery. Back issues of our
weekly newsletter have been added to the Documents page.
Discussion Board topics are up and waiting for replies. The
newest topic deals with Student-Led conferences.
Enjoy!

I
hope you've been enjoying our classroom website. There have
been a few new updates to the website over the last month.
Our daily schedule has been added to the Home page. Images
from Reading Buddies and the October 23rd Publishing Party have
been added to the Image Gallery. New links, including
Election 2008 links, have been included on the Links page.
New Discussion Board threads are continuously being updated, so be
sure to check them out and add to the
discussion!

Welcome to the Fourth Grade and Mr. Martin's
class! This website is brand spankin' new as of August 27th,
so be sure to spend some time looking around. The
Home page won't change much over the
year, but this
Announcements page will
alert you to any changes on the site. Two new discussion
topics have been posted on the
Discussion page. The
"Summer" thread is open to families and students, while the "Fourth
Grade" thread will be open to students once they've been given the
password on the first day of school. Many first day of school
documents are available on the
Documents page. Newsletters, some homework assignments,
and other important papers will be posted here throughout the
year. Online grades will be made available at some point this
year...I'll let you know when I know. Most homework will be
found under the
Documents page, but a general overview of homework assignments
and policy is found on the
Homework page. Make sure to check the
Image Gallery for photos of myself and class activities.
The
Links page will contain numerous links for students &
families along with links to resources used in class. Take a
look around, enjoy, and send me a message through the "Contact the
Teacher" option.
