Course descriptions:
US History
In this course
Students will examine basic features of United States history
during the period of 1877 to 2008. The themes for studying this time
in United States history will be: Change, Diversity, Expansion,
Freedom, National Identity, and Vision. This course will include, but not
be limited to, the following: United States Geography,
Government Foundations, the Frontier West, Industrialization,
Immigration, Reform, WWI, the Twenties, the Great Depression and
the New Deal, WWII, Civil Rights, the Cold War, Vietnam, and
contemporary times.
Within this survey course, attention will be given to the formation
and development of geography skills, analyzing primary and
secondary sources, bias detection, writing skills and presenting
skills.
Civics
In this course
Students will examine basic features of United States Civics during
the period of 1763 to 2008. The themes for studying this time
in United States Civics will be: Change, Diversity, Expansion,
Freedom, National Identity, and Vision. This course will include, but not
be limited to, the following: United States Geography, United
States History, Government Foundations, Economics and contemporary
times. Within this
survey course, attention will be given to the formation and
development of analyzing primary and secondary sources, bias
detection, writing skills and presenting skills.
